As had happened after the completion of the first phase, Southeast Christian’s growth spiked after completion of Phase II and they purchased new land again, this time to the south. Having completed the original master plan and both Phase I and Phase II buildings with RNL, the Church again hired RNL to help reinterpret their needs through the design team’s unique, interactive programming process for their next expansion. The relationship the Church built over the years allowed the design team to rapidly update the master plan and deliver a combined Phase III and IV design through the consensus-building, interactive “on-site” charrette process.
Phase III and IV includes a 2,000–seat worship center, an 8,000 sf, 2–story expansion to the existing lobby, including a new 400–seat cafe. Phase V will complete the master plan with the development of the Church’s north parcel potentially as a family life center and south parcel as a senior’s center which will fully integrate the Church into the surrounding community.
