Almost as soon as Southeast Christian Church settled into its first building on their new site, they experienced explosive growth. To plan for the future of the Church, they acquired additional land just across the street to the north. The youth of the Church also began to voice their need for space. Because of the availability of the adjacent land and the Church’s incredible growth, it decided to revisit their master plan, which RNL had originally designed. The five-phase master plan was expanded to include a family life center, retail bookstore, and cafe.
Phase I was completed only two years prior when Southeast Christian Church launched Phase II, consisting of a large, double-height Youth Worship space with capacity for 250. The project includes a new lobby, expanded administration space, and 13 classrooms on two stories, which also serve the Church’s private Christian School (pre-school through 8th grade) during the week. Additionally, a steel canopy was designed to identify the new “weekday” entry which serves the school and expanded church offices. The Phase II expansion extended the architectural pallette of materials and cost effective load-bearing masonry construction giving the Church a timeless sense of permanence.
