RNL is designing a 167,000 gsf, 178 unit senior living community in Westwood, California. The community will provide units for both independent and assisted living. This project is being designed to provide quality supportive amenities and services. The property is adjacent to the Westwood United Methodist Church.

A creative development strategy provides the church with 292 parking spaces in return for the right to develop senior housing in the air rights above. This close partnership is expressed in the design of the project as a contextual aesthetic to create a “campus” with the adjacent church.

While the client is not pursuing LEED certification, the project is designed to meet Savings By Design energy conservation standards.
