The City of Fontana intended to create a civic complex to draw people to the “center of the city” once again. This Civic Center will promote interaction on personal, professional, and commercial levels, thereby creating a vital Town Center.

RNL was commissioned by the City of Fontana to develop a conceptual Master Plan for the Civic Center, to implement the first phase of this plan, and to design the library which becomes the predominate new building of this development. The Civic Center Park includes a newly developed Civic Center entry drive, outdoor amphitheater, and public plaza with unifying streetscape. The Lewis Library and Technology Center includes a full service library, educational outreach program areas, computer/internet access facilities, community meeting rooms, auditorium, and City offices/services. In addition, it also contains a nicely developed art program with children’s installations, light spectrums, photographic panels, specialized graphics and two water features.
