The City of Mesa is one of the fastest growing communities in the country. With this growth has also come an increase in the municipal court’s caseload and the need for additional court divisions and space. The resultant program identified the need for 10 courtrooms, including five trial courtrooms, three arraignment courtrooms and two civil traffic hearing rooms. In addition, the facility includes space for all court support functions including Jury Assembly Room, Jury Deliberation Rooms, Judges Chambers, Court Services, Customer Service, Collections, Administration and Holding, as well as space for the City Prosecutor.

The new facility was sited on a 2.38 acre site immediately adjacent to a City-owned 800-car parking structure. The lower level of the garage is being modified to provide secured parking for the judges and all court and prosecutor’s employees, while public parking will be provided on the upper levels of the garage as well as at grade level.
