The Beaver Lodge Maser Plan has been informed and created with particular attention to issues set forth in the Winter Park Town Plan. It is not another sprawling mountain subdivision or freestanding condo development carved out of the woods. The essence of Beaver Lodge is the creation of several individual, distinct neighborhoods or villages, each surrounded by open natural space and connected to the others and to the core area of Winter Park by a series of trails, walks and new streets. The long term affect of this plan will be to permit growth of the town in a phased, compact manner, with service by reasonable extensions of existing utilities, while at the same time “stitching” together existing neighborhoods that presently do not enjoy optimal pedestrian or vehicular connections.

The overriding philosophy of Beaver Lodge is sustainability and preservation of the natural environment that makes Winter Park a special place. It is intended that the entirety of Beaver Lodge will seek certification as a LEED-ND development. Iin addition, the plan preserves as much of the natural environment as possible by encouraging compact, village type neighborhoods separated by open spaces. The plan also affords access to the Fraser River and other natural areas within Beaver lodge by all residents of and visitors to Winter Park.
