Google Boulder

BOULDER, COLORADO

When Google acquired Boulder-based SketchUp, the company hired RNL to create a Colorado-inspired design for its newest location. As Google mandates that no two offices look alike, the space was stamped with a distinctively Boulder feel. Highlights include a two-story climbing wall, rubber flooring made from recycled tires and countertops made of pressed paper. For Google’s subsequent expansion, RNL transformed empty retail space across the street into an eco-friendly showcase heavy on the “fun factor,” with a teepee and vintage VW van serving as informal meeting spaces and a central “campsite” with a lodge-style fire place and log cabin. The expansion project is expected to earn LEED Gold certification.
