Drendle Gardens at The Cable Center
DENVER, COLORADO
The Drendel Gardens connect The Cable Center to the rest of the University of Denver campus with gardens of native Colorado plant varieties, while also providing a tilted outdoor lawn panel for communal movie viewing and small concerts. A projection room is provided at the east end of the gardens to play movies across a pitched lawn. Composed of a layered system approach, the site consists of three main elements: a large gathering space with an inclined turf amphitheater; a “travel and connection experience,” a tapestry of colored paving; and a small intimate space with native and xeric gardens in recessed planting beds that provide abundant texture and color.
