For Lend Lease Communities, the pledge to sustainability began from the inside out. The charge was to create a work environment that echoed the Lend Lease Group’s commitment to live and breathe their corporate values: respect, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and excellence. To create an office that would inspire green thinking and foster a high level of collaboration and productivity, the design team set high standards and achieved LEED Gold certification.

Innovation and sustainability defined the parameters of the most appropriate design solution. Strategies for conservation extended from demolition and project planning, through design and construction. The compact space is predominantly open plan and cultivates interaction with a variety of meeting places: conference rooms, teaming areas, and lounge. High tech and low tech solutions combine to enhance the function and quality of the built environment: the effect is more natural light, better air quality, and higher productivity. From water and energy-saving fixtures, equipment and appliances, to furnishings and millwork produced with low-emitting adhesives and rapidly renewable or recycled materials, the degree of sustainability informed every choice. The office environment works in concert with the sustainable initiatives in place, and employees are motivated to be green at every level, personally and professionally.
